Surrender

Father,

Sometimes I don’t feel very loving.

Sometimes I think I have given enough.

I want to sit back and wait for others to take a stand, fill the gap, give the gift, care.

Sometimes I feel pretty mean inside, and I think, “I’m NOT doing it!”

Then I remember You.

I remember Your consistent grace in the face of hatred, Your steadfast love and great mercy.

I remember Your forgiveness – how I have needed that!

I remember, and I realize that I will continue;

I WILL do it – whatever ‘it’ is –

for You.

Hebrews 12:² Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. ⁴ Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

I Samuel 12:24 Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
