Mercy is the compassion and forebearance of God. God’s mercy grants forgiveness to the offender and blessing to the needy. We cannot earn His mercy, but He gives it freely to those who ask. Born in His great love for people and shown through the work on the Cross, mercy is a defining characteristic of God.
David uses the word mercy, not counting its other forms such as merciful and mercies, 99 times in the book of Psalms. He cries for mercy, and he thanks God for His multitude of mercies.
Don’t be fooled by Satan’s tactics and lies. He would have us believe that God does not care, that God is not involved with this life, that God is afar off and unreachable. God, however, assures us that He is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9
Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Psalm 118:1 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.
Psalm 13:5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
