What is Christmas?

I walked through the crowded stores, watching people there. Mothers scurrying, fathers hurrying, Minds quite filled with care. I left and walked into the night, wondering as I went, did God want Christmas kept this way? Is this why Christ was sent?
As I looked out into the night, I saw a stable, bare. I saw the manger filled with hay; A Child was lying there. The quiet became an angel’s song – the air was music clear. My heart was filled with wonder for I knew God was near.
Then, as I gazed, the night grew dark; Each tree became a cross. Music no longer filled the air – the angel’s song was lost. The stars fashioned a crown of thorns to grace the Savior’s head, for from a stable to a cross our Savior’s path had led.
Then my heart knew where Christmas was – what Christmas really meant, for God the Father gave His heart when His dear Son He sent. To save a lost and dying world, Christ left His home above – Now, I know without a doubt that Christmas is God’s love.
I John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
