Trusting God Through Life’s Challenges

When our daughters were young, they went on many adventures with their dad in search of mullet and other fish in the bays and inlets of the gulf coast near our home. They learned to spot schools of fish and cast the net to catch them. They waded through grasses and water, often chest deep, as they got to the best spot to throw, heedless of what else was in the water around them. Their dad was watchful and knowledgeable. Many times, their excursions were in the dark, but they trudged through that water, trailing dad, regardless.
Thinking back on those memories recently, our daughter remarked that she can’t imagine wading through that water in the dark now that she knows all the creatures that live where she once played. I answered, “But you trusted your father.”
She smiled.
Isn’t that how God has called us to travel through this murky world each day? Fully trusting Him as we follow wherever He leads?
We are surrounded by dangers, physical and spiritual, wherever we go. Yet, God sends us out as sheep in the midst of wolves (Matthew 10:16 KJV) to work for Him, and he tells us not to worry about anything (Philippians 4:6 – 7 KJV). If our eyes were fully opened, we would be paralyzed from movement.
But, as His children, we can walk in courage and faith through life because we are following our Father. He alone knows what lies ahead. He alone holds the future.
How exciting to wake each morning knowing that He is in control. How wonderful it is to trust our lives to our loving Father every day knowing that we are in His care.
If you don’t know Him as your Father today, you can. Just turn your heart to Him in faith and ask Him to save you.
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil (Proverbs 3:5 – 7, KJV).
