“Never, in peace or war, commit your virtue or your happiness to the future.Happy work is best done by the man who takes his long-term plans somewhat lightly and works from moment to moment “as to the Lord.” It is only our daily bread that we are encouraged to ask for. The present is the only time in which any duty can be done or any grace received.”–C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory
The Bible says it this way:
James 4:13 Go to now, ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
We have this moment
to follow God
to love our families
to love our neighbors
to love the world
to give
to laugh
to share
to forgive
to repent
to trust
to believe
to enjoy
to praise
to be grateful
to encourage
to give grace
to know the Lord
We have this moment today.
We must use it wisely and use it well.
Psalm 95: 6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. 7 For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today if ye will hear His voice, 8 Harden not your heart,
Matthew 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
