Blessings on a Morning Walk
What blessings do you notice on a morning walk?
Today, I tried to capture a few of the wonders that were so evident on our morning walk.
September Morning Walk
Air laden with moisture under slate gray skies.
A quiet so deep my heart can feel it.
A querulous hawk watches each step,
upset that we have invaded his territory.
A silent doe and fawn at the edge of trees.
The white flick of tails as they disappear.
A vine’s tiny colored leaves sprinkle across the still green grass.
The first kaleidoscope sweetgum leaf faceup on pavement.
Brown seed pods hang from mimosa branches.
Ripening persimmons beckon animal nibbles.
Crabapples scattered on the ground.
A world sheds its summer robes to dress for autumn.
I came home refreshed as I praised God for the amazing wonders in His world.
Step outside today. What wonders do you see?
“To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever” (Psalm 136:4, KJV).
“For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods” (Psalm 135:5, KJV).
Father, thank You for the wonders of Your world that remind me of how wonderful You are. Forgive me for getting so caught up in the temporal that I forget that You are always working, always moving in this world. You are busy changing seasons, caring for the tiniest sparrows, and You don't forget about us. There are big problems facing people today, Lord, but You can handle them. Just like You keep the world spinning each day. Just like You move the stars each night. You can manage these things. That's why I can trust You. Thank You for caring for us. In Jesus' name I pray.
