Say it Out Loud

Laws have been passed.

 

Norms have been set.

 

Keep your religious views to yourself.

 

Satan wants Christians to be silent, and he has a lot of people on his side.

 

God isn’t for silence, though. In fact, when I read Psalm 96, I find that He wants Christians singing out, talking out, declaring, showing forth, worshipping, saying, and rejoicing in His name every day.

 

There is nothing silent about that.

 

God doesn’t expect us to keep our conversations about Him within the church walls either. Twice in this psalm (verses 3 and 10) He tells us to “Declare His glory among the heathen (unbelievers)” and “Say among the heathen (unbelievers) that the Lord reigneth.” This tells me I need to share His greatness wherever I am with whomever I happen to see. God wants everyone to hear.

 

For too long we have allowed the world to dictate our message and our delivery of the message. The message, though, is God’s. He is the One in charge of its content and delivery. We need to be obedient to Him.

 

God’s news is good news. He is good, and He is love. He has given His only begotten Son, Jesus the Christ, to be the payment for the sin of the world. We can be forgiven if we through faith turn to Him and accept His sacrifice for our sin. “For the Lord is great, and greatly to praised” (Psalm 96:4, KJV).

 

As God’s children, we are to proclaim His truth every day in our words and in our lives. We are to say it and live it out loud.

 

When I read this psalm this morning, my mind reviewed the things that I talk about the most. When I talk with people, do my words honor

·       the weather

·       my health

·       my family

·       others

·       the latest politics

·       sports

·       current events

 

None of these topics are wrong, but I must look at my priority. Do I declare God’s glory every day?

 

Today is a good day to follow the instruction in Psalm 96, verse two:

 

“Sing unto the Lord, bless His name; show forth His salvation from day to day.”

 

I think I will get busy doing that.


 

Father, sometimes my words aren’t really wrong, but they aren’t right either. Help me to honor You with my words today and every day. When I talk with people, may my words let them know that You are my King and that You alone are worthy of all praise. You are the only way of salvation. You are so, so good. In Jesus’ name I pray.
