The United States flag, reflecting the growth and challenges of this nation, has gone through many changes during its history https://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagfact.html. From 1776 until today, it has flown to represent a country that honors liberty.
Freedom is never free – it always rides on the back of sacrifice and hard work. The United States flag stands as a symbol and reminder of the sacrifices that serve as the foundation of the freedom we enjoy.
Today, may we honor the sacrifices made as we offer ourselves in service to God.
I am Old Glory.
For more than two centuries I have flown over this nation, crowning its accomplishments and supporting its endeavors.I have watched as divisions attacked and tore, andI have swelled with gratitudeas the principles of freedom and unitywere restored.I have flown over the people in warand in peace, and I have proudly wavedas the banner of liberty.Soldiers have fought and diedin my shadow.Mothers have cried and fathers have bornethe losses that were required
to keep me aloft. I am Old Glory.Though not perfect,I represent the perfect principlesupon which this nation, the United States of America, was founded and upon whichit has prospered and grown.Don’t worship me,but stand firm in the defense of liberty,of justice, of equality, and righteousness.Only a just people, only a people attuned to right, only a people willing to sacrifice comfort for good and
self-gratification for servicecan keep me flying.
I am Old Glory.I am Old Glory.
Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
