Simple Joys: Things That Make Me Smile

Things that make me smile –

• The golden hickory tree that greets me when I walk out my door

• The crunch of leaves under my feet

• Children’s laughter

• Autumn’s cool breeze on my face

• A perfect rose

• The chuckle of chickens jostling for a piece of bread

• The blue of a too blue sky

• Pansies

• A long hug

• Clean sheets fresh off the line

• A hot shower

• Banana popsicles

• Friends

• Coming home

• Grace

• My Bible

• Quiet at the end of the day

• Butterflies

• The green of new lettuce seedlings just popping through the soil

• Rain

I could go on, and when I do I realize that there is much to smile about in this world. So many blessings heaped on us each day. There are trials. There is hurt, but God pads it all with joy and beauty if we open our eyes to see.

He is the greatest joy of all, and He can open our hearts to the beauty in this world.
