Let There be Joy

If ever there was a time that we need Your joy, it is now –

as the darkness presses down,

and the enemy’s arrows fly.

When evil raises its destructive head against Your people,

let us remember

the joy of the Lord is our strength.

We will rejoice in Your mercy

and sing of Your grace.

We will dance in the power

of Your goodness

and SHOUT of Your holiness.

For You alone are mighty to save.

You alone are worthy of being exalted.

No enemy can defeat You,

and we shall NOT be moved.

We will rejoice in You, Lord.

We will sing and praise Your power.

Forever.

Written in response to Psalm 21

Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power” (Psalm  21:13, KJV).

Father, some days joy slips from my heart and I am caught in the darkness that surrounds me. Forgive me, for You are joy, and in Your presence is fulness of joy. I lift my heart to You for Your light and Your joy. I submit to Your goodness and Your grace, and I choose to rejoice in Who You are every day of my life. Help me, Father. In Jesus’ name I pray.

Perspective in Prayer

My prayers usually focus on what I need God to do for me. Things like rain, health and healing for a friend, grace to deal with the frustrations of the day. I pray for my children and their children.
