He Came – and so did Christmas

For century after century, the Jewish people awaited the coming of the Messiah.
This hope
carried them through dark nights of captivity,
encouraged them during each Passover remembrance,
sustained them through worship in the Temple.
Then He came –
but not with the fanfare and trappings of royalty.
He came as quietly as a breeze on a Judean hillside.
He came into the middle of the hustle of people jostling each other for space in an overcrowded town.
He came into the tiredness of traveling families trying to pay taxes.
He came into the darkness of a world gone awry,
and He was LIGHT!
His entrance was as elemental as a newborn baby’s cry, but….
Angels sang.
Shepherds rejoiced.
Wisemen searched.
A young mother wondered……
And the world was forever changed!
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
