“Are you a man of faith or a man of fear?” – Andy Andrews

This question is posed in an unusual but interesting book I am reading, The Traveler’s Gift, written by Andy Andrews. I read the quote today, and I thought it appropriate for the season we face in our country.

I have seen and read of a lot of fear in recent days as we face the unknowns of our nation’s future. Some have given up hope.

I was reminded today, though, that faith is the opposite of fear and the two do not coexist. In fact, one is the enemy of the other. Paul reminded Timothy of this early in Timothy’s ministry:

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7, KJV).

When fear takes over in a Christian’s life, we can know its source, and it is not God.

As we move into uncertain days (though, truthfully, all our days are uncertain) we can remember that our foundation is established on the God of the ages. He has not promised a trouble-free life, but He has promised us His unwavering presence. He has promised us His strength and His grace as we face whatever challenges lie ahead.

Let us walk in obedience to Him as we follow His path, knowing that He will lead us safely home.

Until then, we still have work to do for Him. There are people to help, children to serve, sorrowing to comfort, hungry to feed, sick to care for, lost to tell of a Savior.

Let us walk in faith, not fear.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33, KJV).
