Cleansed by Storms: A Spring Awakening

I walked outside into the crispness of a new spring morning.Leftover raindrops captured the rising sun’s rays making prisms of light on the fresh green leaves. The budding grass sparkles with moisture from yesterday’s rainstormand the world is alive with the colors of spring. For weeks we have battled the falling leaves of the Live Oak trees, but todaythey have burst forth in their spring-green robes ready for the new season. The dogwoods are fully arrayed in white, and yellow flowers dot the freshly mowed lawn. They are beautiful, a gift from above.Blue birds flutter and tend their nests, and the cardinals lift their voices in praise. It is a joyous morning.I stand amazed, for once again it has happened.God has washed the winter away.

Every year it seems that God uses a storm to wash the last vestiges of winter from the world as He ushers spring in. I think He can use storms in my life as well to cleanse away the cold and brittleness that accumulates over time. I pray that I will always be open to His cleansing and renewed to springtime in my heart.
