Anyone who has ever received a difficult diagnosis,or agonized through an illness,or known the heartbreak of watching a loved one die, knows the agony of waiting. We wait for the results of the next test.We wait for the next treatment. We wait for the next heartbeat. We wait through symptoms, and reactions, and pain.We wait for a funeral, signaling our final severance on this Earth. We wait – unable to formulate plans or complete actions. We wait, simply surviving each moment. For even though we have heard of the resurrection, our hearts are still enmeshed in the suffering of the cross. This was the Saturday before Easter for Mary, for John, for Peter, and it is the reality of life. But,the reality does lessen the absolute certaintyand joyand powerof the resurrection. For faith says,“We can’t see it now, but we will!”

40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid (John 20:40 – 41, KJV).

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory (I Corinthians 15:54, KJV).
