Beautiful!

Science defines many of the miraculous sights in our world. For instance, here is the definition of a rainbow from the Merriam-Webster dictionary:

“an arc or circle that exhibits in concentric bands the colors of the spectrum and that is formed opposite the sun by the refraction and reflection of the sun’s rays in raindrops, spray, or mist“.

Or, check out the definition of sunrise, also from Merriam-Webster:

“the time when the upper limb of the sun appears above the horizon as a result of the diurnal rotation of the earth”.

Technically, these definitions are accurate and proper,

but as I checked out recent sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean, I did not think of the scientific definition.

I thought of majesty and wonder and creation.

I thought of the creativity of God, and I realized

He did not have to make it beautiful.

God could have created the earth and the skies in monochromatic black and white. He could have left out the seasons and change that mark time in our hearts. He could have made all of His creatures look alike and done away with the grace of a pelican’s dive or the egret’s quiet hunt. He could have forgotten texture and variety and proportions. He did not have to make the clouds swirl with color as they chase each other across the sky.

He did not have to make this world beautiful, but He did.

That is the amazing God He is!

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

Genesis 1:³¹ And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
