An Experiment for Good

The news and FaceBook are filled with stories of people in trouble. People suffering. Mental health issues. Illness. Many people in America are miserable.
We don’t like our work, or we don’t have work.
Our families are a mess, or we are alone.
Churches are full of hypocrites, or maybe I am one.
The left is loud, and the right is proud.
But I wonder, are we miserable because of our circumstances, or because we have shut ourselves off from the God Who loves us?
What if we decided to take a step away from our miserableness – a step toward God?
What if we
apologized for our actions?
focused on demonstrating love and kindness?
focused on Who God is?
chose to obey the things we know, like telling the truth and going to church, despite our feelings?
spent one full minute each day thanking God for life, for work, for provision, for sight, for family, for health, for shelter, for…….?
read one verse of Scripture each day 10 times? Try Psalm 23, John 3:16; Psalm 119:165, I John 1:9, 1 John 4:4, Psalm 120:1, Romans 8:28, Psalm 118:1,6,8,14,18, 28
If we began being purposefully attempting to be grateful and kind and absorbed God’s Word a little, we would see a difference
in our attitudes,
in our outlook,
in our relationships,
in our world.
Just a thought. Might be worth trying.
