Through the Looking Glass

Through the looking glass of humanness, we often determine that another soul has it better or easier than we do.  Assumptions made; judgments cast, we discount their struggle and undervalue the working of God in their life. The Psalmist David and Paul both made it clear that we are on equal footing when it comes sin.

Psalm 14:3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Romans 3:²³ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Yet, we still look at others and deem them better than ourselves.  The proverbial ‘grass is greener on the other side of the fence’ keeps our hearts from realization and strength in how God is working in our lives.  It closes us off from fellowship and isolates us as believers.

There is such a need for openness and light in our relationships as Christians. There is such a need for us to see the sufficiency of Christ in us, whatever struggles life brings our way.

You say I’m strongwithout knowing the battlesraging in my heart,without feeling the scarsof broken promises and grief.

You say I am wise,but my mind struggles to understandhow to live in this worldgone awry.

You hear my voice,and say what faith you have!But you cannot see the mountains of doubttunneled throughbefore the light of faith could dawn.

You see the outsideput together,coveringthe trembling inside.

Whatever good you see,Whatever right you seeis only Christ in me.

II Corinthians 12:9 And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
