If I base my decisions on my rights, I have not truly grasped the meaning of the Cross.
When I avoid service because of inconvenience, hardship, or lack of recognition, I know nothing of the Cross.
When my first thought is, “How will this affect me?”, I have missed the impact of the Cross.
When comfort rules over commitment, the Cross calls me to repent.
Jesus
gave up His rights
suffered inconvenience and hardship.
saw His name and position misused and maligned.
put me before Himself.
committed Himself to the Cross, despising the shame.
Father, bring my heart back to the Cross.
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
