When you read the Psalms, you can not help but notice the difficulties of David’s life, his sorrow, his fear, his despair. You also can not help but notice how time and again he cries out to God for help. So many times, a psalm begins with sorrow and ends with praise as David remembers Who He serves.

Our sorrows can be swallowed up in God’s glory and sufficiency as well.

My Shield, my Glory, the One Who lifts up my head – That’s my God!My Joy, my Righteousness, the Light that shines in my heart – That’s my God!My Refuge, my Shelterwhen life’s storms cover my life – That’s my God!My Portion, my Inheritance, the Faithful One Who keeps my soul – That’s my God!My Strength, my RedeemerWho chose me and calls me to His heart – That’s my God!

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 3:Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
