Sent Out

Jesus was always sending people out to teach and to minister to the world around them.

In Luke, chapter 10,

  • He sent the twelve.

  • He sent the Gadarene.

  • He sent the seventy.

  • He sent the lawyer who questioned in Him.

As we read through the retelling of His ministry, we find that time after time, He sent people out.

Jesus preached an active faith (Luke 8:21) that caused ripples in the world. His followers were either loved or despised, rejected or followed. There was no middle ground, no mere existence. He sent out changers, not chameleons.

Our challenge today is to stand in a culture that has no regard for truth,

but it is time to stand.

God has called His children to focus on the truth despite the lie and to point to the Savior amid the sin.

Our success in this endeavor is directly connected to our dependence on His strength, His Word, His Love, His Person. We cannot complete His mission on our own.

Father,

Forgive me for depending on me, for blending in when I should be shining out.Forgive me for walking away from the lie rather than combatting it with Your truth.

Your truth is simple, Lord.

You love us.

You came to us.

You taught us.

You suffered and died for us.

You conquered death for us.

You called us.

You gave us a choice between eternal life and eternal punishment.

When we choose You, You empower us to live for You. You never leave us wallowing in the pigpen of sin.

Father, help me walk with boldness in Your truth!

Luke 10:Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
