Redeem the Time

“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16, KJV).
I woke up this morning with a headache, and I wasn’t sure about the type of day I was going to have. Then I thought, “I am thankful for clean sheets.”
Many people in this world don’t have clean sheets or a bed to put them on, but I do. I am thankful for clean sheets.
My whole perspective changed. My head still hurt, but I could think beyond my head to the blessings of my life. I asked God to help me be a blessing to someone else because of all His goodness in my life.
Days are passing swiftly as we move toward the coming of our Lord. There is no time for grumbling or complaining. No time for grudges or harsh feelings.
Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, left a short statement in chapter five, verse sixteen.
Redeeming the time – this means taking advantage of every opportunity we have; using our time wisely for Him. Why?
because the days are evil – We don’t have to look far to see the truth of this statement. We are surrounded by the works of darkness. We face them when we get up and when we close our eyes at night.
But we serve a God who redeems, and He has called us to be a redeeming force in this dark time. We can only do this if we allow His Holy Spirit to work in and through us.
Ephesians 5:15 reads
“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,”
That word “circumspectly” means watchfully or vigilantly.

I can remember grabbing a flashlight to navigate through the yard at night to avoid stepping in holes and on briars as I went to check on animals. That flashlight helped me navigate the
darkness.
God’s word allows us to navigate the darkness of this world so that we can use the opportunities that He places before us to serve Him.
I’m not sure what you are thankful for today but whatever it is let it motivate you to redeem the time and use the opportunities God places before you.
Shine your light into the darkness of this world today.
Father, I do thank You for clean sheets and the good home that You have given me. Help me use it as a launching pad to go out into this world of darkness and share Your light. Help me to make full use of the opportunities You place before me. In Jesus’ name I pray.
