Declare God’s Glory

In America, we have been trained to shun controversial subjects in what is considered polite conversation. At the top of the list of subjects to be avoided is anything to do with God. We have allowed our society to effectively cut Him out of our everyday talk, voluntarily limiting our freedom of speech, although people still often use His name as a curse word.
God gave the psalmist a very different plan in Psalm 96, though. Here we are told to confidently declare God’s glory to all people. Take a moment to look at the boldness of the wording.
Sing unto the Lord all the Earth (verse 1).
Show forth His salvation every day (verse 2).
Declare His glory among the heathen (verse 3).
Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name (verse 8).
Say among the heathen that the Lord reigns (verse 10).
The psalmist’s words tell us to not hold back when we are speaking of God and His glory. We are to tell everyone, yes everyone, that He is God. He is great. He is to be praised. He is Creator. He has done great things. He will judge the people righteously.
Why is this message so important?
Because He is coming! He is coming to judge the world with righteousness, and the people with truth (verse13).
Sing it! Declare it! Say it!
We have news! Good news!
10 Tell all the nations, “The Lord reigns!” The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. He will judge all peoples fairly. 11 Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! 12 Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest sing for joy 13 before the Lord, for he is coming! He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with his truth. (Psalm 96:10 – 13, NLT).
Let’s tell someone about Jesus today!
