A Month of Mondays

October has been a month of Mondays for our family. Challenge after challenge has come our way, and while we continue to rejoice in God’s blessings, we are a little weary of chasing down the balls lobbed our way.

The type of challenge doesn’t matter. Trials are a common language in the human experience, and we all have them. Health issues, car troubles, family problems, home repairs, the loss of loved ones, hurts, and heartaches pile up and press down on us and can leave us reeling in this unsettled world. Sometimes it seems that these troubles overwhelm us to the point of despair.

But God.

I love those words! God has not left us without hope or without help. In Christ, He has provided a strong and sure foundation and a ready source of help in time of need. His power and strength are available to us every day. Second Corinthians 4:7-10 tells us

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.”

So, as I sit here in a hospital waiting room continuing our month of Mondays, I am remembering that the power is God’s not mine, and I am once again praying and releasing the many things that I cannot control into His more than capable hands.

I pray that this morning you will do the same.

SHELTERED

When my heart is overwhelmed, and my strength can’t carry me,When the darkness presses down, and Your light my eyes can’t seeLord, I lift my heart to YouReaching for Your mighty hand. You are mercy; You are truth. In Your grace I stand. All Your mercies never fail. And Your strength is always new.Every morning You revealLove wrapped in the gift of You.I can’t seem to understand How You meet my every need. You are mercy; You are grace. You are every breath I breathe.Lord, hide me in the Rock much higher than I.Oh, Rock of Ages, broken for me.Lord, hide me in the Rock much higher than I.Sweet Rock of Ages, broken for me.You are holy Lord, the mighty tower. You are grace and truth, righteous in Your power. You’re my Rock of Strength,Mercy free and true,Lord, I hide in YouBased on Psalm 61 - Beth Mims
